- It is anticholinergic antiparkinsonian agent which has
a direct inhibitory effect on parasympathetic structures.
- It has both direct and indirect spasmolytic effects
on smooth muscles.
- Action is similar to atropine with fewer side effects.
- Idiopathic Parkinsonianism
- Other Parkinsonianism (post encephalitic, arteriosclerotic)
- Parkinson's syndrome due to the dispense of psychotropic
durgs, .and dyskinesia, akathisia
- If its due to psychotropic drugs : 2~10mg daily in divided
doses Others : 1mg the first day, 2mg the second, and
then 2mg increments from the third day daily, up to 6~10mg
daily in 3~4 divided doses.
