The foods taken during pregnancy assume a very important role not only for the nutrition of the pregnant woman but also the normal growth of the fetus and puerperium recovery. The normal increase in the body weight and the foods that can be taken during pregnancy are described below:

  Taking a proper amount of calories during pregnancy is very important for the development and growth of the fetus. But overeating during pregnancy brings about an unnecessary increase in the body weight which raises the chance of developing hypertension or gestational diabetes. Adjust the increase in the body weight within the range of 10-12 kg during pregnancy. The following figure shows the curve of normal increase in the body weight during pregnancy.
